Needing to relocate, any suggestions

Published

We are looking to relocate, and I am looking for a cc with NO waiting list. We are looking in the southern states like tennessee, georgia and kentucky. Can anyone shed some light on some cc's that have no waiting list. Thanks so much in advance!

Are you interested in Texas, too?

The Dallas County CC has no waiting list. You compete every semester for the spaces available.

My sister in law said there were quite a few cc colleges in or near Louisville KY that didnt have waiting lists...

I live in Virginia. Thomas Nelso Community College in Hampton, VA doesnt have a waiting list. I am applying to Riverside Regional Medical Center which is a great teching hospital in Newport News and it has a great reputation. They have two programs to choose from, a day program and an evening program. Yo can apply and be accepted while you are completeing prerequisites, so you can apply far in advance.

If you're looking for no waiting lists, skip Florida. I just got accepted to my ADN program for August, which will be more than a year and a half after applying, and a year after completing ALL requirements including Micro, social sciences and humanities electives.

On the bright side, starting with the August 2006 class admissions have changed. If you don't get into August or January, you must reapply for the next year. Bad news for some, good for others.

Good Luck.

LKG6 is right. Dallas county has no waiting list. You either in or you reapply.

Here is the link to the EL Centro/ Northlake program (the best IMHO).

Brookhaven is also in the Dallas county community college district. They run their own program.

Of course there are other nursing programs in the Metroplex. Tarrant county, UTA, TWU, North Central Texas to name a few. I only have specifics for UTA and TWU two great BSN programs. I don't know about waiting lists at either.

actually, tncc does have a wait list...

they only do admissions once a year (apply in feb-mar start in aug) and applicants are chosen off the "points system"... a wait list is used for students who do not wish to continue or do not show up for required meetings, etc. students that are on the wait list but not called up for that year will get first consideration the following year if they re-apply and have still met the requirements (gpa)... the gal in the nursing dept i talked to said that they easily get 2-3x as many applications as they can take (70 students a year) so it is competitive and easy to get sent on to wait for the next year if you do not have all (or at least almost all) of your gen ed classes done.

several universities in va have bsn programs that are worth looking into that have minimal wait lists if any...

i would also strongly caution you to think about where you are relocating and at the tuitions in those states, how long you have to live in state before getting in state tuition, etc (unless of course you can afford the much higher tuition)...

I'm not sure which BSN programs do not have wait lists, but Riverside RMC has an ADN program with a very good reputation and they have an RN to BSN program that they offer in cooperation with VCU. That is the route that I am taking. You can apply to Riverside while you are taking your prerequisites. After they receive yoiur application, you are scheduled to take the NET and have an admissions interview. You do need to apply 6 months to 1 year in advance. You do need to have good prereq grades and a decent NET score. They also have an evening program, which is one of the reasons that I chose RRMC.
