Hi all! I'm taking Biology over the summer hybrid and I have no motivation!! I work full-time and have 2 kids, it's just not working:( I did great last semester in Chemistry and Sociology but I just can't get myself on a schedule. It doesn't help our professor is very hard and makes his own powerpoints that do not come from the book. Both my boys are in baseball so 2 nights during the week I'm not home to study and the nights I am home I just want to relax. It was not this difficult in Spring and Fall. I know I'm whining but just looking for some words of encouragement. Thanks:)

Good day:
HACC has bio videos at
Right now I'm watching Mitochondria Structure: Cristae, Matrix and Inner & Outer Membrane to help me cover areas in the human biology book I'm using for class to expand on things in a more visual way.
Of note, I I started at the beginning of the cell series a few hours ago.
You can do this, but you may have to sacrifice relaxation time.
Thank you.

You can do this! You did well in chem and sociology, so you're going to do well in this as well! The most important thing to know is what your learning style is. If you aren't sure, try this quiz here: http://www.vark-learn.com/english/page.asp?p=questionnaire
I'm more of a read/write type of learner, so what works best for me is reading the chapter before lecture. I don't mean skimming through it, I mean ensuring there are absolutely no distractions at all whatsoever and really, truly reading it. After attending lecture, I go back and outline the chapter as I re-read it and then insert notes from lecture where they belong in my outline, and study from there.

Can you wear headphones at work? use a voice recorder and read your notes out loud and other useful items.
I don't take BIO until August, so I can not offer any more specific advice.
