Hi: You need to contact the NJ Board of Nursing,at http://www.nj.gov/lps/ca/medical/nursing.htm. check the requirements for foreign nurses. I think you should go through the Commision on Graduated from Foreign Nursing Schools. at

www. CGFNS.org. If you have a green card and SSnumber there should be no probelm. The whole process takes a few months , after this the nursing board will approve you to take NCLEX-RN, the examination for licensure. So you should start studying. Good Luck

thank you so much for Ur reply,i need one more information do i have to give TOEFL and CGFNS EXAMS?

Hi: I don't know exactly how it goes rigth now, because I think that TOEFL is needed if your education was not in English. On the other hand you could take IELTS, includes the oral part, easier for some people. You need to check with the Nursing board. I'd check with several different Nursing Boards from different States, in some of them CGFNS is not required, but again I'm really not sure I did it like 5 years ago, and they're frequently making changes. It doesn't matter where you get the license you can always transfer it to NJ. Better, chek in the International section of allnurses.com, there is a moderator Suzanne, she is great an very knowledgeable in all this; always willing to help. I'm sure she'd be able to tell you which would be the shortest way. Fell free to contact me again if you need.

Please check out the International forum under the region tab above. Things are different when foreign trained and much information already there. If the BON requires a English exam it will have to be meet, still looking at a few months waiting before you can sit NCLEX
