hi!i have a question..

im a newly grad from the philippines and is it possible for an RN to just work for 6 months and then leave for 5-6 months and then come back again to work for another 6 months and then leave again for 5-6 months...can i be on full time and do that or do i have to work only part time....and does it affect my record if i do that i mean if it makes it look bad?

Hospitals won't like that too much.....not very dependable.......

Where I work, they let some per diem staff do that. Not full time staff though. It would also be hard to strengthen your nursing skills as a new grad if you are working intermittently like that. Good luck. Hope you find something that works for you!

oh i see...i just want something like this to work for me in my first couple of years..coz im home sick and cant bear being away for so long..

Your best bet would be to get a solid year of employment, whether at home or in the US. This would strengthen your skills, and also provide the minimun 1 year experience usually required by travel nurse agencies. You could then accept 6-month assignments.

Yes, agencies would give you assignments in blocks of weeks, like

13 weeks or less, if that is what you want to do.

I understand the homesickness, but there are lots of very strong Filipino communities here.

The best bet for working the way you describe is to work for an agency, but most agencies will not hire you without at least 6 months' experience, some want a year.
