I was just wondering for anyone who has graduated from Excelsior, how long did it actually take you to get accepted to the RN program, then how long did it take you to finally graduate from the program???
Also, so basically, you study the courses at home then you take the exams online? where do you perform the clinicals and the clinical exams?
thanks..

I finished the program in January last year. I had all the pre-reqs done at my local community college. The nursing concept exams and CPNE took 18 months. I waited four months to take the CPNE. It takes about a month from the time you apply to be accepted. California will not allow you to become licensed if you obtain your degree from Excelsior. If you ever plan to live there DO NOT do the EC program. I enrolled in the program before the cutt off date to be accepted by California--this was back in 2003.
THANKS so much for the advice and input... I live in northern california, so now that you informed me that CA. will not license you if I do the EC program, I will not be doing it... good thing you enrolled before the cut-off date...
By the way, how are the ADN programs in SO. CAL. For some reason, I heard that it is pretty easy to get in because evryone else is trying to do business, is this true? or is it competitive just the same and hard to get accepted?

There are waiting lists here...about 2 years. I do not think they are easy to get into--at least that is what others tell me. Good luck!

Yeah, I thought I would be moving to So Cali and checked into the programs. The wait for RN was 5-6 semesters and 3-4 for the lpn-rn route!!!! Needless to say, I stayed where I was at to go to school. The wait here (AZ) is only one semester at the Comm colleges. And even sometimes (in my case) less than that. I got in right away, and was very pleasantly surprised.
