Need Help With Finding a CNA Position in Michigan

Published

Hello, I have recently recieved my certification as a Nursing Assistant. I have applied to countless hospitals, but have had no luck with recieving any interviews. I've probably applied for at least 150 different jobs in the area.

I'm either going back to school for my RN or to become a PA. In order to get into the PA program, I need a year of experience in a health care field. I have two bachelor degrees, Education and Marketing, and have tons of experience working in a customer service experience as well as with a wide variety of age groups and ethnic backgrounds. I've worked countless hours on my resume, trying to make it stand out.

Can anyone provide me with specific words that hospitals are looking for in their search database?

Have you applied to nursing homes? Around here (NC), it take most CNAs 9 months to a year working in a nursing home before getting hired at the hospitals. A local hospital recruiter told me she typically receives over 300 applicants for ONE hospital CNA position. The ones that get interviewed are the ones who already have experience at LTC facilities, nursing homes, etc.

No, I haven't. The problem is that if I were to work in a nursing home, the experience doesn't count toward experience for my PA prerequisites, although I have begun applying to nursing homes since I do need to start somewhere. I thought being a male might give me a little bit of an edge. :-) Wow, 300 applicants per CNA hospital position, that's insane! Thanks for the information!
