i have never seen a lvn program in texas ( and i do a lot of nursing school research ) that would require the thea (and i am very familiar and experienced with thea formally tasp). as long a the program is not a associates degree and the hours remain under 42 then it is a certificate program and except from thea requirements. remember that if it is a certificate program then you can get a waiver and by-pass this test. now there may be other test required to enter the nursing school and you can find that out by talking to the nursing dept.

let me add something here .. i am talking about thea as being the test you take upon entering the college. you can enter the college and graduate without having to meet the requirements of thea if you are in a certificate program. however, after posting my last post to you i got to thinking. there are some school s that use the thea scores for nursing entrance. i cant give you any info about that other than find another school. i think a lot of schools have steered away from that. the thea is a monster and i'm talking about the math part....i know i have got to hold the record for taking it.. i started taking it in 1994 and still haven't passed it . i know i have taken it at least 17 times..just the math part , passed the other 2 first try. but now i am exempt because i have a aas degree and passed college algebra (after 5 tries) in the spring...

Here's another thought. Business colleges offer the LVN program, and will readily admit you without ever having passed the THEA or Accuplacer exam that so many community colleges use as the 'gatekeeper' to the more rewarding career fields. I have never been to Bryan, so I do not know of any private LVN programs in that area. However, the DFW area has at least three private LVN programs that will admit you without the THEA or TASP. Platt College is in Dallas, Concorde Career Institute is in Arlington, and the Dallas Nursing Institute is in Dallas (of course). Be aware that these business colleges are very expensive.

As long as your taken just the lvn then there is need to take that test at a community college but
if you want to transfer to the R.N program then you will need to .

It is five years later - one would suspect the OP has graduated by now :)
