Need help please

If you are becoming distracted, I recommend studying in increments. 15 minutes studying, 5 minutes break, 15 minutes studying, 5 minutes break, etc. Also, figure out when you study best. I know many people study better in the early afternoon so they specifically schedule study time for around then. Good luck!

I agree with the other poster but I know what really helped me was the online course work that came with the book. I used that for the games and online tools when I felt like I couldn't stare at the book any longer. Good Luck! :)

Hey I know that feeling I took A&P 1 this past summer. Sometimes studying at school in quite zones or the library may help a lot better than at home. And studying ahead if time bit by bit is also very helpful. It is a lot of information to process. Good luck p.s stress won't help trust me try to make it fun with online games and apps

Study somewhere that there are no distractions. Such as a library, etc. Study for an hour a day.. And break this hour into increments. Because if you try to study it all at once its going to hit you like a ton of bricks! So make sure to study in increments that was a big part in my success to this class :) You will eventually get the hang of it!

I know that I'm a very visual learner, so watching A&P videos online in addition to reading the textbook was essential for me. Maybe that would be worth a try? Most textbooks have additional material online, such as practice quizzes and games that you should definitely make use of. Don't wait until the last minute to study; after you cover something in class, make sure you understand it well before the class moves onto something else. Good luck!

Hi everyone. I'm currently taking A&P 1 and really need better studying tips. Whenever I start studying my mind becomes easily distracted. I truly with all of my heart would love to become an rn. I'm finishing up my last few prerequisites for the BSN program here at a major hospital in my area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I find I have the same problem, I am also taking A&P1 this semester. I have a couple tips that I found that have helped me. First if you are easily distracted, make sure you cut out anything that can make those distractions worse. The TV, I always tried to study with it on thinking it didn't affect me I could do both. But you can't make sure it's off. Make sure you sit somewhere you can sit with your back straight if you sight up straight with your spine in a straight up and down line rather than slouching over you'll get more oxygen to your brain, helping you to not get tired and therefore hopefully keeping a little more focus. Oh another big one turn your cell phone on silent when you plan to study. While you study do not answer text or phone calls! Like someone else said, 15 minutes on and 5 off, get up walk around, but each time try to go a little longer, then 20 on 5 off. Better yet if you can break it up into (4) 30 minute sessions. Use resources available to you. With my lab I have extra stuff online that helps me tremendously, get an A&P coloring book, that's my favorite, now I have an excuse to color :) one of my other favorite things to do notecards, while they can be time consuming to make, it makes such a difference. You can pull them out while going on a walk and study or anytime you have 5extra minutes, you can constantly test yourself. Last the biggest thing that helps me is find a study partner. Having someone else to study with gives you that boost of motivation to keep going. Having someone to talk to about it also helps you can quiz each other, it's helped me so much. Oh and also find out if your school has access to the models outside of class. We have a learning resource center where we can go study and check out the models and use them while there.

I get distracted too, so I recognize a few things that might help. (1) Keep my computer monitor turned off if I cannot study in a library,(2) Study for 15-30 minutes each and do something else (wash dishes etc.), (3) Give myself plenty of time....this means that I avoid proscratination. I study a bit everyday but consistently do it daily. Some days I can study a long stretch and some days I cannot. I don't make myself feel guilty about it.

I make sure that I read the text before class, pay very close attention in class, and do all the homework and review stuff I don't completely understand. I put stuff in Excel (e.g. muscle actions/insertions/origins) for memorization. I watch videos on youtube to help understand and remember things visually and auditorily. If I do all these, I only need to study a little bit before the exam to Ace it.
