Need help please...

If you are already in a program, I highly recommend that you complete that one. That would be the fastest for you to do. And then return to the US.

You will have issues with your credits being accepted in most cases, and will be required to retake many of the courses before you will even be accepted into an actual program. Much faster to complete it back home and then return to the US.

Whether or not you qualify for the PN exam, is purely dependent on the hours that you have ocmpleted and type of courses. And if your program is simialr to many, then you would not meet requirements, you do many of your liberal arts training in the first two years, not all nursing specific courses.

If i choose to continue my studies in Philippines, i need to wait for 10 months (second semester of the year) for me to be accepted again. What will I do for now while im still waiting for that semester? Im planning to evaluate my foriegn transcript as per requirments by El Camino College. Will that be a good idea???

You are still going to find it faster to complete the program at home, you will be getting credit for very few of your courses in the US when you have not completed the program at home. Even if you transfer programs in California, you will find that many will not accept the other's hours.

So even if you were to get your credits evaluated, the next semester here starts shortly. You will not be done in time, to start with this next semester here. And the pre-reqs for their program will need to be completed before you will be able to be accepted into their actual nursing program.

My suggestion, get a job if you want to put away money while you are waiting, and then complete your program at home. It will be your fastest, that is a definite.

What are some jobs I can apply? Because, i have no idea at all. If i want to take the CNA or LVN exams, where will I go to check if im qualified??

If you are just starting the third year, then you will not have enough hours in the clinical areas to be able to qualify for the LVN license in CA. Usually, you would need to be done with the third year when in a four year program because of the way that your clinicals and theory are taught.

For the CNA certificate, you will need to go thru a CNA program and pass the exam for that. Especially since you are not a current nursing student in a US program at this time.

I'm planning to finish my nursing at home (Philippines) my question is, do I still need to take my local board examination after I graduated although I am already an immigrant here in the US? What about the CGFNS, am I required to take it also? Do I have to take it in Philippines or here? Stay away from the NLE, you will only be required to write the NCLEX exam to work in the US since you already have a green card.

You will not need to do anything with CGFNS unless you go to a state that specifically requires the CES for foreign trained RNs. You do not need to take that exam.

In response to what you were referring to:

Immigration is completely separate from nursing licensure in the US. Since you have a green card, you do not need to go thru any of the procedures for that; therefore Visa Screen Certificate and the series of English exams are not required for you.

US Licensure requires only the NCLEX-RN exam for you. CGFNS exam is only required in about five states now...........not needed.

TOEFL and IELTS are the English exam series that are needed for foreing nurses that are wishing to obtain a green card, this does not apply to you.
