What about hormone replacement thearapy vs other alternatives for peri-menopausal and menopausal women? Or does it have to be more in the maternal/newborn direction?

I have several off the top of my head:

-Premenstrual syndrome

-Female depression

-menopause/perimenopausal issues

-transistion from pregnancy to motherhood

-breastfeeding/current issues/topics

-advances in the treatment of various female cancers, e.g. breast ca, -cervical ca, ovarian ca

-osteopororis/related health sequelae and issues

-exercise and women's health

-Obesity epidemic and its effect on women's health

-Domestic violence and its effect on women's and children's lives

-Rape and/or other violent crimes against women and current issues/statistics/interventions

these are just a few off the top of my head....I am sure others can hit on many more.

There are all kinds of things... I'm into breastfeeding so I could come up with a lot there.

Also I think a presentation on the newer forms of birth control could be interesting (NuvaRing, Mirena IUD, patch, Lunelle, Essure, Fertility Awareness, female condom, Yasmin, etc.).

HPV is a big thing lately with the vaccine now out.

Elective c-section & rising c/s rates is another big one.

I am getting ready to do one on GBS prophylaxis and evidence-based practice. I was going to do breastfeeding and PKU but there is not a lot of info out there. Also considering breastfeeding and medications in labor. GL!
