I am needing some input on what to write for my grad school personal statement. From what I understand my statement into the graduate school application can be short and sweet, but I can write up to 2000 words for my psych np enrollment statement. So that being said I feel like I need to brainstorm some ideas. I haven't written anything like this before so I don't know where to start. Any ideas?

Don't they have questions you need to answer? Typically you are asked to write about yourself and why you are choosing this program, your career goals, your reasons for wanting to become an NP, etc. Pretty standard stuff that you should've been thinking about anyway since this is a serious career choice. Be honest but embellish. Play yourself up and make yourself look good without sounding conceited. You are selling yourself. Think about what sort of qualities they are looking for in an applicant and write about yourself as being the embodiment of those qualities.

Also include why you are choosing that particular program and how you think it help you achieve your goals. And give an example from your nursing experience of how you exhibit leadership qualities. Also include your goals/plans once you graduate from the program.

Speak from your heart...let them know why you want this and how bad you want this (without sounding cheesey). The need to feel your desire and commitment.
