Need help finding list of approved nclex review courses

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I don't know if this is the cottect forum to ask for this assistance, but I've tried other outlets to no avail. I have taken the nclex-rn 3 times and failed 3 times. After 3 failures the Michigan Board of Nursing requires you to pass a board approved nclex review course before your eligibility is reinstated for another 3 attempts. Can anyone guide me to where I can find a list of these board approved courses.

Maybe call them and ask them what do they consider an acceptable course. That would be the best thing to do. You don't want to pick one and pay for it and have it turn out not being agreeable with their list. Good luck!!!

Thank you for responding and I appreciate the good luck wishes. I have called the state board of nursing on several occasions and have gotten a number of responses. None of which can be used to get what I need. The majority of the calls ended in me being disconnected after having been placed on hold for 20 or more minutes.

What review course does your school recommend? The bottom line is that there are many, none are "approved", all of them work-or not-depending on your needs. Kaplan is fantastic for test taking strategy (I used it and passed first time). Hurst is good for content review-they offer (or at least did offer) one week free, so its a good test drive to see if it seems like it will fit your needs. There are books that are cheaper than the reviews that help some people. Saunders for content, LaCharity for alternative type test questions, Lippincott, etc. NCSBN administers the NCLEX and they have a review course that some people swear by...I haven't tried it. There may be a free trial there as well.

Some nurses pass with no review at all, others use all of the above and still fail...it is SO individualized, do some research, find what works for you and dive in. Best of luck!

Thanks for responding. I don't know what the state of Michigan considers approved, that's really what I'm hoping someone can tell me. I know about several of the ones you mentioned and if it was just me looking for something to help me pass I would just pick one that suits me, but I need a review course that the state of Michigan will accept so they can approve me to take my test again.

I was curious if you ever found an answer? I need to take a course too and don't know which one to take. Thanks

It's only 3 courses they approve it! Hurst, Kaplam, NCBSN which one are you choosing?

I've took Kaplan but lightly used it...do you have any suggestions?
