I'm an LPN who would like to get my RN.

What math do I need to be focusing on so I can get through chemistry. I never had it in high school and am SCARED!!!

Thanks

I felt that algebra was helpful with chem...and you will probably need college algebra for your degree. I stink at math but with LOTS of studying have pulled A's and B's in all my sciences. I had to take a math prep class to get into my intermediate algebra class. GL!

I hear ya on the being scared of math thing, but the only thing you can do is try to put the fear aside and focus on what you need to do. First thing is to check out the program requirements - what math pre-req is required for entrance into the chem you need to take? Then go take the math placement test to see where you stand. Then you just start going step by step to get where you need to go.

Don't let your fear get the better of you. I'm sure your college has tutoring available - take advantage of it! I'm working through intermediate algebra right now and my text came with a DVD showing how to work example problems (video of a person actually working through the problems so you can see all the steps), but also access to an online tutoring program that I haven't even checked out yet.

Truly, its not as bad as I remembered from high school. I'm as math-phobic as they come - if I can do it, you can!

Very basic algebra. You can also get through it with an understanding of how to set up and solve problems involving ratios which is under the realm of pre-algebra. However, you should have basic algebra to be on the safe side.

I am just finishing Chem you just need algerbra. I had not had any in 30 years and made it through the chem but was lucky my chem teacher took his time on the math section. Good luck and Go for it!!
