I'm pretty sure I'm going to make a C or D in my Anatomy 1 lab. Even if I make As on all of my quizzes and practical. I have making As on all my quizzes since the beginning the semester. What is bringing my grade down so low is the 60% on my first practical. We only get two practicals the whole class so you can imagine how much these practicals impact my grade & how much material is on them. I'm not trying to make excuse though. Since then I have changed my study habits & I'm very hopeful to make an A. Or a B on the next practical which might give me a D! But I have decided that I'm going to retake the class. At my school they take the AVERAGE grade of both classes. I KNOW the second time around I'm going to make an A. So I'm looking at getting a C or B after retaking the lab. But do you think I will still get into a nursing program? I know how hard it is to answer this question considering the many factors of getting in but if anyone can shed some light. I just want to know if getting a C or D in this lab the first time has destroyed my chances of getting in? Will they consider the A I made the second time? Like honestly should I even keep trying? I really really really want to me nurse & I will do anything to get in. But I also know that sometimes you can dream of something & it can't come true in life. No matter how much you want it.

^WSS. Withdraw. If you will retake it anyway, the W will get replaced with the new grade when you retake it.
I can't withdraw. I've miss the deadline.

Good day:
The moment you get a grade on any quiz, exam, etc. that is less than your goal is the time to see your professor, a tutor, etc. to see what can be done for improvement.
Have you talked with your professor?
Does your school offer tutoring services?
Thank you.

Do they not combine your lab and lecture grade? Our lab grade is worth 40% of our total grade. We have 4 practicums but in micro I only have 2 lab practicums but again is combined with our lecture grade. I guess in this instance I would retake but you need to read the syllabus at the beginning of the semester so you know how everything is weighted. Although I have had a teacher this semester tell us that if people put half the time into studying as they do into figuring out their grades everyone would have A's.

I got a C in A & P I and an A in A & P II. I got in the nursing program. The A & P I course was a Maymester. UGH! I don't recommend that for anyone. Don't give up hope!

Go to your teacher and ask for extra credit assignment.

PP's are offering wonderful advice.
Just a side note. As an educator, the OPs history of making good grades on quizzes but not on practical/lab is indicative of over-reliance on memorization (quizzes) rather than on application of knowledge (lab). This disparity normally becomes even more significant in nursing classes. It is the 'academic wall' that is a huge obstacle for those high-GPA students who have never experienced a C or D test result before. Success in nursing education will require the ability to actually apply all those 'factoids' that are obtained from the textbooks.
