I have heard school nursing described as a "necessary evil".
Tell me what you think about that ?? Just curious ??

Who's viewpoint?
From the viewpoint of teacher's and administration.:icon_roll
Well, where I'm at we're pretty far up on the popular scale. We see teachers and their family as well as the school kids. We arrange for training classes for their cooks, ie., food preparation. I inspect the school canteen (cafeteria). I've driven teachers to the hospital in the middle of the night, started IV's on them, yada, yada, yada

I think I'm a necessary evil only when asking the teachers to do something they don't want to do, like interrupt their teaching time for health screenings. The rest of the time they love having me here. Not only do I care for all sick and injured kids, I safety pin, sew on buttons, find snacks, teach how to properly blow your nose, let a tired kid rest, deal with "smelly" kids, provide a bathroom, call parents etc etc. And this is just for the kids. For the teachers I also take BPs, provide answers to health questions, have sanitary supplies, have a stock of tylenol, motrin etc., listen to adults who need to vent or share, etc. I think I'm more valued than tolerated. At least I hope so.
