Hello I am a male graduated nurse from upstate NY, and i have been reading posts from this site for a long time. I will be taking my NCLEX for the 3rd time on friday september 9th. When i graduated nursing i worked for 6 months as a GPN, and i know i should have taken it before but o well. The first time i took the test i didn't study at all and was rushed to take it to keep working...Failed with 85 questions. 2nd time i took the test all i did was around 600 questions and the rationals and memorized some of the lab values. Failed with 205. This has been the longest between tests. I have went through so many changes, financially, emotionally, and physically. Anything i have ever done i have been successful. I was working at a call center making basically minimum wage until one day i got mad at myself and decided i didnt drive 1 1/2hr round trip everyday for school to work here. I quit and decided i am going to take my test and work at it. I am married and have two beautiful daughters and want to provided for them like i want to. This time around i really devoted myself. 100 questions a day for a month (3000). Memorized all labs. Went over major diseases. Drug classifications down. Common drugs. Reviewed Saunders Strategies for Nclex success front and back. Taught diseases to my wife to help me retain it better. Over all i feel way better about my knowledge and and strength as a nurse. This time i am actually excited to take the test. And i would be hurt so bad if i didnt pass this time.
Thankyou for your time and listening to me. Sorry for all the typos lol. Have a great day!
Just wanted some tips and motivation in the closing days

I think you are going to do great---you have the advantage of already seeing what the test is like and have spent time focusing on previously weak areas. I will say a prayer for you right now--- let us know how you did on Friday!
And P.S. Please say a prayer for me, too, as my test is tomorrow!
Will do! Ps Know remember dilantin, gout, cpr, precautions, seizures because they were on the test both times i took it!

Nobody know exactly how you are feeling but you. like I said in my post, I claimed my success b4 i even took the test, i tested for the second time last friday, i reminded God of how much i wanted to pass the exam, believed in myself, told myself that it was just an exam (that i ve studied day and night for). i spent more time understanding the question b4 choosing the answer (think of one last thing you will do for the pt b4 you go home). the nemonics on infection control on this website helped me alot. i stopped studying 5pm a day b4, glanced thru the exam cram sheet in the morning b4 my exam at 12noon.
I ate good food and took 2 aleve, then put the rest in God`s hands.
Go for it, You will make it this time. Just put your best in it!
