Published

Hi All

I have my nursing license from India and I have 5 years clinical experience in India. currently iam living with my husband

in USA. And i need details regarding application process of N-CLEX. I have undergone IELTS with over all score 6.5(s-6.5). Is

this score helps to appear for N-CLEX? And am i eligible to take CNA(Certified Nursing Assistant) course? please provide

information of CNA aswell. If i complete CNA course, can i work as assistant nurse here?

Thanks,

I will appreciate your suggestions.

If you have permission to work in the US then all you need to do is follow requirements for the state you are in for license by exam. List of states Boards of Nursing can be found at the bottom of the page

HI,

Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately i do not have working permit visa. I am dependant on my husband's

visa. I am trying to start my career as nurse in United States. Do i go through immigration process or do i need to complete

my N-CLEX exam and all? I am not concerned about only RN. I can go to LPN,if possible. And do we require SSN no.to apply

for N-CLEX exam? I found in some websites, some states are asking SSN no.to apply for this exam. I am on dependant

visa, how can i get SSN no.? Could you please suggest me the right pathway to start my career?

Thanks,

Shashi Aloori.

Depending on the state will depend if a SSN is required for license and submitting application. Once you have passed NCLEX and a license issued you then meet the difficulty of finding a employer willing to go the work permit route, which again depends on the state as well as proving to the government that they can not employ someone either a US citizen or already has PR and your experience.

What visa are you in the US with as that will depend whether you can apply to work? if F2 because your husband is F1 then you can't work.

If looking for a immigrant visa then you will definitely be affected by retrogression and have a long long wait ahead of you once you join the queue once a employer files I140. again you may experience the same issues as if applying for work visa

Hi

Thank you so much for your response. If i will do a bachelor's degree in united states, does my visa type

change? what type of visa should i get? After completing degree, can i get work permit visa? And suggest me the

course, based on my eligibility. Some degree courses are preferring to take N-CLEX to join the course. Could you

please provide me information regarding nursing course, which should be completed early?

Thanks,

Shashi

Training in the US will not make it any easier to get a work/immigrant visa.

Work visa is generally specialised and you will be expected to have a couple of years in a specialised are to get one, also employer has to prove that they are unable to employ a USC or someone already in the US with PR.

Immigrant visa has been under retrogression since Oct 2006 and is still ongoing with many many people ahead of you in the queue

I am trying to enroll in Bachelors nursing degree in United States. Am i eligible for that course? Or can i choose other course? Please suggest me.

Thanks,

Shashi

Did you take note of Silvergragon's previous post?

Hi Sashi ,

I am a fellow nurse from India in a similar predicament as you. I am on F2 status trying to write the NCLEX. I am a BSn and MSN from India, and since my husband has moved here to study I am on an F2. I would like to know whether you were able to get your NCLEX done on an F2 status? If so could you tell me which BON did you apply to? I am trying to get my NCLEX through CO, BOn. I don't know If I will qualify because I am on F2 Visa. It would be great If I could get some inputs from you, or others following this thread.
