For a start you are apply for licensure to be a RN in the US which means you have to apply with a state nursing board and be assessed, once assessed and they decide you meet US requirements then they will allow you to sit the exam. The exam can be sat outside the US so will depend on where your nearest center is and the US may be the case. If you need a tourist visa for the US then the likelihood means you will be affected by retrogression

You will not be issued a tourist visa to come to the mainland US to write the exam. It is offered in Puerto Rico, but that requires a visa to visit there for you.

Mexico City offers it now as well.

If you go to the website for Pearson-Vue, it will give you a list of all of the centers available out of the US for you.

Hey, maybe you can get help me answer my question since you live in Trinidad. I trained as a nurse in NY and I just got my license. I was thinking of working in Trinidad for a year. Can you tell me what the registration procedure is?

Does Trinidad require NYC nurses to take another exam or is the NCLEX ok???

The NCLEX exam is only valid for the US, one will need to obtain a license in any other country to be able to work there. Suggest that you check with their equivalent of the BON for specifics as to what you will need to do as well as their requirements for licensure.

Best of luck to you.
