NCLEX support group

I don't know about a support group...but I can offer you some encouragement. I took the NCLEX in early 1994. My class was the first at my school to take the computerized test. I think I stopped after 88 questions. I was terrified that I had proven my incompetence in those 88 questions. I just a couple days shy of two weeks, I was relieved to receive my license in the mail!!!!! I went to school in Texas and was able to work as a graduate vocational nurse. If I had not passed the NCLEX, I would have had to step down to a CNA until I could obtain my license. I had already been working for about 4 months and would have DIED if I could not have continued as an LVN.

Enough ranting......as I said before, I answered about the same amount of questions as you did and I passed.

Hang in there...I know you are nervous, but it will all be over soon and you will be able to focus on JOBHUNTING!!!!!

I just took my boards a few months ago. Mine stopped after question 90 and I passed! I really feel for you! the wait is the worst!!! GOOD LUCK!! jen

I KNOW IT IS A REAL DRAG WAITING. WHEN I TOOK MY LVN BOARDS IT STOPPED AT 83. I HAD MIXED FEELINGS, ONE DAY I WOULD FEEL I PASSED THEN I WOULD FEEL LIKE I FAILED. WELL 10 DAYS LATER I PASSED. FOUR YEARS LATER I FINISHED MY RN BOARDS AND IT STOPPED AT 76. AGAIN I HAD THE MIX FEELINGS I PASSED THAT AS WELL. I THINK YOU DID OKAY COULD YOU LET US KNOW YOUR OUTCOME? I TRULY FEEL YOU RIGHT NOW. I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE TELL YOU THIS AND THAT BUT THE TRUTH OF IT IS YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW YOU DID. JUST KEEP POSTITIVE OKAY GOOD LUCK :D

Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the Kaplan Review -- taking the actual course is expensive (up to $500), but there is a book out there (by Kaplan) that illustrates the same concepts for self-study. If you study and remember the concepts of taking the NCLEX, you'll pass. Also, don't stress over it. The NCLEX is more or less designed to test your basic competency. The basic pointers help evaluate this aspect of Nursing. It's not about your knowledge base so don't get crazy studying systems (although a breif review is helpful).

Just a note of encouragement. I took my NCLEX in June of this past year. It stopped at 75 and I made the huge mistake of trying to think of all the questions that I was unsure about. I KNOW I missed some very basic questions because I was so scared and tired (from staying up the night before worrying). Then I got to thinking to myself "If I did not get those very basic questions right I must have really blown the test" I had to wait four very long weeks and I was a wreck. (I was positive I had flunked). I passed and so did all of my classmates that I know of. My best friend's stopped at 89, another friend at 110, one went all the way to 265 and passed. So, please try to relax and realize you know so much more than you realize. Also remember that there are questions on the NCLEX that are for testing puposes only and do not count towards your score. Good luck and let us know when you get your liscense...and CONGRATULATIONS for persevering and finishing school!:)

I can understand your anxiety. However, waiting a couple weeks to find out if you passed doesn't seem too bad to those of us who spent two whole days taking a test with pencil and paper in a huge auditorium with a thousand other people and then waiting 4 MONTHS to find out whether or not we passed.

Hang in there. You'll know soon enough.

shawnRN...did you just gave us a clue of how old you are??? ...seriously, i had the same experience with pencil exams when i took my first RNship...that was grousome!!!

i'm not that anxious anymore, as what my close cousin said "everybody passes the NCLEX, it's just a matter of when you pass it that differs"...but it sure wold be nice to pass on the first try :) :)

I just have to tell you that my daughter's name (she is three) is spelled exactly the same as yours! You are the first Reyna I have seen with that spelling besides my little one. Do you pronounce it ""raina?" People are forever calling her "Reena."

Anyway I was also going to suggest the caring4you.net site. You can find great support there. I took the NCLEX in July, it stopped at 75 questions and I absolutely knew I failed. But I passed!!! I bet you will too. My classmates all had different numbers of questions, but we all did fine. Hopefully you can check for your license online in about a week. Hang in there!!
