NCLEX study guide score...is it predictive?

No because I tend to rush when doing sample questions from a book, I usually do poorly on the book ones, but passed the NCLEX and the other computerized tests through nursing school the first time.

Those books are good for getting you used to the format of the tests but don't use it to learn subject matter. Also focus on good test taking strategies. If you did decently in nursing school and you know how to take NCLEX style tests you should do fine.

I recently took and passed the NCLEX and what I did was Hurst Review. I read the test takingbstrategies and reviewed the question style, not the info.

I only read the book and reviewed the strategies for answering the questions. I think that this did help me since I passed the exam with the minimum amount of questions.

I took NCLEX-RN this week and before I did, I was trying to get others to answer this question for me. No one did. So...here's my two cents and I hope it comforts you.

I did the tests/CDs in Kaplan's review book and also Mosby's. I was consistently scoring in the upper 60%'s and lower 70%'s. I kept feeling like I was doing well, but my scores were obviously not reflective of that. I was pretty worried about the NCLEX. I took it Tuesday and I had 77 questions and passed! So, evidently my scores were good enough to get me through. And, I didn't feel like the questions in either of those review books were anything like the NCLEX questions.
