NCLEX Scoring - Need some REAL advice.

Nursing Students NCLEX

I took my nclex-rn this morning. I had 265 questions that took me 4 hours to complete. All of my questions were EXTREMELY difficult. I took Kaplan to prepare - I obtained very good scores on all the question trainers. My Kaplan readiness test predicted an 88% chance of passing, and my college's DRT predicted a 92% chance of success. However today I left my testing center in tears and still cannot stop crying.

- I attempted the "Pearson Vue Trick" and it took me to the payment page. I typed it all the info and did everything except actually hit "submit payment". I have heard this is reliable but I am asking has anyone out there had a experience where the Pearson Vue Trick was wrong?? I am trying to hold on to every last thread of hope I can. I do not like to rely on some "trick" but i need to know if it has pulled a false negative on anyone out there??

I searched my name on the BON and it just says "pending". I need some solid advice because I really don't know what to do or what to believe. I am so discouraged and in shock. :sniff: Also - is it true that a HUMAN grades this exam as well? Is it possible that maybe I did pass?? Please....any input.

If the pvt took you to the credit card page then i am sorry to say but you didn't pass this time..BUT there is 1% chance..I would suggest you to not think about it and get through the grief asap and get back to the study..That would be a good way to go..You are not alone just study harder and stay positive ..You will make it:up:

BUT there is 1% chance..

Where do you get this number from? I am completely unaware of any instance where it has given a false negative, let alone any data showing what percentage of times it gives a false negative, so I'm curious as to what your source of information is. Words mean stuff, and people who are vulnerable and desperate deserve accurate information, not information made up on the spot to make them feel better. This speaks to veracity, an important concept that will have a direct impact on patient care. I know it's instinctual to want to comfort people and give them hope - that's a very good quality to have and I certainly commend you for it, we just have to do it in a factually honest way.

@ the OP:

Much of the advice WeirdNurse gives you is very good. Take your time to grieve, take a fresh look at your preparation, what you feel your strengths and weaknesses were including getting enough sleep, exercise, recreation, nutrition and downtime too. You have to be nice to yourself to be in an optimal state for learning and performing on your test.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. All the way through nursing school I was terrified of not passing my test so can only imagine how awful you feel. Grieve - and then pick yourself up and try again. Best of luck to you.

@nurse maru

i appreciate what you saying but i got this number from reading all the threads here about pvt(my personal opinion).i haven't heard of anyone who got to the cc page but passed the exam.whatever i said was a genuine advice not to be harsh or rude.he asked for everyone's take on it i posted mine.i said what i know/i believe i don't know why you find it mean..i know how he/she is feeling and i hope from bottom of my heart that he/she would pass..thax for your post though.thank you

OP, I've yet to take my exam so I don't have first-hand knowledge about PVT, scoring etc. But based on threads here on AN, I haven't ever seen anyone report a "false negative" in which they got to the payment page on PV but then DID actually pass. I think what weird nurse was trying to say was, you can never know, since the PVT is not endorsed as a 100% reliable method by PV/NCBSN etc. However it does appear that you did not pass this time. I would echo the sentiments from Maru, that you need to give yourself time to grieve. When you receive your results I believe it tells you areas you were at/above/below passing levels on so those would be the areas to focus on for next time. Maybe vary your approach in the next go-around? It could have been test-taking strategies that threw you off, or more knowledge/content. I wish you the very best xxx

Oh no.. :( it must be frustrating to go through this.

Thank you everyone for your responses. My next question is what do I do now? I'm testing for Delaware if anyone knows. I looked on NCSBN but didn't get much help, went on my BON site and found no information. I emailed them but have yet to get a response. For anyone out there who has failed - does your board of nursing send you something in the mail saying you deff failed n the form to fill out to retest? I can't find answers anywhere and I'm even more frustrated and upset than I already was.

In PA they send you a letter saying that you failed and tells your score and you know where you are weak. I guess you have 45 days to re-schedule your test. Well you got to paid the fee again. Don't loose your hope, I wish you the best...Good luck....:yelclap:
