2004-2005 NCLEX-RN Exam Study Guide Book too old?

Published

I just purchased a NCLEX-RN Exam study guide thats the Kaplan 2004-2005 edition at a yard sale. She did not have the CD that comes along but she is now inCRNA school and is selling a bunch of Nursing books she gave me this for only $10 is this book outdated? I think think info in it is really helpful should I purchase a more up to dat version? If so what are some great ones? The Nurse who sold this to me said it helped her out a lot along with REA's NCLEX-RN flashcards.:clown:

run to the store and get a NEW one! the nclex changes a lot. in 2004 they did not have fill in the blank & select all that apply!!!!!

is it good enough for now simply to just read through. Im a little LOW on ca$h!

Specializes in Hospice / Ambulatory Clinic.

I would imagine the basic principles would be the same but some of the questions might not be. If your just at the beginning of your nursing school career then it will ok. The content review will help you in your classes but maybe just ignore the question and when you get some cash buy the latest and greatest version

Specializes in geriatrics/long term care.

you are spending $1000's on your nursing education. You only really get it once.Unless you go back. But still your foundation of nursing knowledge is really important.Dont shortchange yourself. If you can at all find a way. Get a new book. After all, shouldn't you have the same advantages as your competition?

10 years down the line, i cant say that someone else will be the better nurse because they had the new book and you did not. But we are talking about a 5 yr difference. Good luck.

There is very little that changes in such a short period of time. The basics are the basics. I would, however, buy a newer version, and rely upon it.

I was given a copy of the 2005 guide from a friend I also was given recently the 2010 version its basically the same info. I went through the pages they have the same questions on the same page. I would buy another updated version but not Kaplan if you already have that one trust me.
