NCLEX Question Please

Just curious--How long can I wait after I graduate to take the NCLEX-RN? Is there a limit?

I think you have up to a year to apply. Then once you apply and get you ATT letter it has dates on it that you have to test by, if you don't test by the last date you can't get a refund. Mine gave about a three month window to test. Bottom line don't apply until you are close to being ready to test.

Thanks Molly.

GOOD LUCK on your NCLEX. St. Patrick's Day has to be lucky, right?

In general, a graduating student is allowed to apply 1 month prior to the target graduation date. In California, the BRN takes approx. 6 weeks to process your application form for the license and the BRN will give you the instruction in applying for your ATT. The application process to obtain your ATT is done through vuepearson (the company that administers the test) and you pay $200 for the exams (check or credit card, depending on how you apply). You have 3 choices in applying for ATT (1) by mailing (slow), (2) by calling the 800 number (fast), and (3) by registering online (super fast). Once you get your ATT, you have the flexibility to schedule your NCLEX anytime within a year from the issuance date of your ATT. Once you have your ATT, you can register online to schedule your NCLEX exams. Hope this helps.

In Texas, you have to apply with the board of nurse examiners 3 months prior to graduation. This includes registering with Pearson Vue, the company that adminsters the actual NCLEX test. It varies from state to state. You should contact your board of nursing for their guidelines.

in delaware you have 90 days after you graduate to take the NCLEX. At least that's what they told me!..

I would try and take the test as soon as possible after you graduate. You will just be getting more nervous by putting it off. If you want time to review, then do that, but try to take the exam while everything is fresh in your mind.

Good luck.................... :balloons:
