NCLEX Preparation

Published

Hello fellow friends. I am getting ready to sit down and study again for the NCLEX. It will be my 5th time taking it. I graduated in 2010. I have the Hurst Review and Hurst Review Book from the book store. I am going to try to listen to the lectures and do questions from NCLEX 4000. I also have the Lacharity book. I need to know if any of you can suggest a study plan for me. Since I have failed so many times I just don't know where to start. I hope to hear from all of you. Any help I get would be greatly appreciated. I love all the help that I have received from every one here. I hope every one has a great and Happy New Year. I am hoping the I have RN after my name this year! Thanks.

I feel your pain! I will be testing for the 6th time Jan 20th. I have major test anxiety, however I feel like this time around will be it. Every time I took the test so far I feel like I didn't put my all into studying. This time around I've done soo many things differently. I'm using different sources, studying every single day, and doing a ton of practice questions.. The most important thing for me is that I'm learning how to take my time and not click an answer right away, but really reading the question and understanding what it is asking. I have 20 more days to work on it! I think you have good study materials, I've been using Saunders, LaCharity, Exam Cram, NCLEX 4000, and Lippincott Q&A.. I try to do at least 200 questions a day. I've been writing down things that I get wrong and then I review that list at least twice a day. What were your study habits for the previous tests? A lot of people say to also study like this is your first time taking the NCLEX and just start from the beginning with reviewing every system. I've also found a lot of great tips and study guides on this site as well! I know we can both do this, after all we already made it through nursing school! And I definitely know that this test will not define what kind of nurses we will be! Just hang in there and hopefully we both can start off the new year as RN's! Good Luck to you!!

Hi!im planning to take the exam again for the 3rd time this January..I have la charity, Nclex 4000 and kaplan strategy..I haven't started reviewing yet but I'm planning to do an intense 30day review..my hubby quit his other job to take care of our baby while I study..We have to be positive as always..we will be an RN this year! Let's claim it!

It will be helpful to get an Rn nclex book from your local book (store barnes and noble or books a million) It is good to go from start to finish and the practice questions at the end of each section are nclex style questions. I am a LPN and I didnt study any of my school materials It was too much to go back and review. I studied a Practical nurse nclex book and it prepared me to past the exam I have many friends that passed the rn nclex and they also used these books to freshen up on the material. pearson vue also has good study materials.

Good Luck.I have not decided when to take mine. The more I review the more I lose my confidence on the exam.It will be my fifth exam if I take it.I have Saunders, La Charity, and Kaplan. Honestly I am frustrated about the exam. I have never fail soo many exam in my life.

I'm hoping if I take it.It will be my last one.Cost a lot of money and I have three kids to feed.

Did any of you use Kaplan? I have never heard of anyone fail with Kaplan. I feel like I need to start a step below that and then do Kaplan.

You school did not prepare us but we knew that going in and knew we would have to basically teacher our selves. Other students in my class used Kaplan and passed. But the spend 4 hours a day and do about 75 questions. Most of that time is spent not answering the questions but looking up stuff they didn't understand and analyzing the rationale.

Hello everyone. I need a lot of help on how to study for the nclex. I just graduated from school and I will probably sit for boards in early march. I have the Kaplan book and q-bank and also Pearson nclex pn but I'm so confused. I don't know how to start studying, do I read chapter or do I just answer question and which book do I use? Please help!

I know the Kaplan program sets up a schedule for you. You say how much time you want to take to complete it and how many days a week and it sets up a schedule and tells you which module to start with. This is the online Kaplan program that is 450 to 500 USD. Every single person I know for various schools used this and passed but they spent hours each day on it.

I am using Kaplan now and its great! It teaches you both content and most importantly how to answer NCLEX questions, since all the questions are applciation/ analysis. It gives you rules to follow and teaches the Decision Tree. You have videos that you watch online. Its a 3 month subscription for $500....well worth the money because they have the kaplan guarantee (you can read more about it online) but its simply: You will pass and if you don't, you will get your money back! theres also free repeat policy.

Also heres a study guide that is helpful for preparing for NCLEX :https://allnurses.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8697&d=1310274877
