NCLEX-PN 2017

Published

Hello-

I took the NCLEX-PN, computer shut off at 85 questions. I got over 23 SATA, 1 med calc peds, priority, 1 EKG, 4/5 drag and drop, delegating, and priority questions, 2 meds I've never heard of. I started to feel overwhelmed around 60 questions and got the pop-up for a break. Went to the bathroom, looked in the mirror told myself I will be a nurse. I'm very nervous because I want to try the PVT trick but I'm really scared. My questions ranged from 77 year old patients, to labs, to 2 year olds. I feel like it was all over the place. I walked out with a smile but by the time I got to the elevator I was almost in tears. I really don't know how to feel. I feel good one second then I start second guessing like I don't want to seem overly confident. I guess I'm not clear on the level of what my questions fall on that has me feeling uneasy. Until then I will be checking the mail and driving myself crazy.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Unless you are an expert in educational pedagogy and blooms taxonomy among other measures (generally a doctoral degree)you will not be able to accurately determine the "level" of questions.

On Friday 7/14, I logged onto breeze. I was able to apply for my initial license. The interm option is no longer there. I applied for my license and got a confirmation page. Hopefully this is a good sign!

My license number is posted. Now I can breathe.

Specializes in Apheresis, Bone Marrow Transplant, Dialysis,.

Thank you. I have revamped my resume, but I feel like everyone wants a year or more experience. Don't know where to start.

I'm jealous. It took my BON to post my license number 10 days :( But congratulations! I also did not know what to think on the NCLEX. From questions 60 onwards the questions were simple, and there were a few SATA where I was like, "I guess we can try this? Or this..." So I definitely felt like I completely bombed. At least we get to move on for now. Next is the RN!

10 days. I would've been a nervous wreck. I'm in California too! I never tried the pvt trick, didn't want to gamble with $200. Thank you and congratulations to you as well. I felt like my questions weren't upper level questions, for sure I thought I was failing. At 60 I got the pop up to take a break, I got up. I have my self a prep talk in the mirror. Went back and I prayed for drag and drop and ekg questions. I got exactly what I asked for. Then my test started to get real challenging. I had 9ver 20 SATA, those I answered true or false. They are very intmidating. It's so funny bc at work all of the RNs are happy for me, they were cheering, and checking breeze for me. They were positive from day 1. Showing me different stragies to remember my labs. Yessssss now that's over, we start to focus on becoming RN. Do you have plans? Are you going the community college route? I don't know where to start. It seems like the fast way is the most exspensive way, which sucks. I don't want to spend years at a community taking this class just to get into the next class. I want to go right in the step up program and take classes that I need.

Hi, I just finished nursing school and I'm now studying to take the nclex. Was there a specific book that you studied from or helped you? I'm so nervous, I feel like I'm in over my head.

It all starts with your attitude and confidence. You're not going to remember everything, they don't expect you too. I used the study guide that is going around and hurst review. Hurst review videos are time consuming, but once the videos are watched and your study guide is filled out YOURE GOOD TO GO. For my questions I used Kaplan q-bank. I tested really low on my hurst review test 52/56/60. I was really bummed. I read and read over the hurst review content and made side notes. Hopefully this helps. Side note: hurst review is pricey but worth it. Good luck and don't hesitate to write back.

Mind sending me links to the books and reviews that you've used. I'm studying Saunders right now, but I feel like it's just overwhelming me. Thanks so much.

How long did it take you to get your results?
