Hi

I ask this in General Discussion also, but, does anyone know how to find out the percentage of students that pass the NCLEX from particular nursing programs?

Thanks

Hello Roozeyk,

Why not just ask them directly. When you call admissions just ask them, "What were your last year's (or last five years or last two years) NCLEX RN passing percentage rate?"

Be bold, your degree, time, energy and future do lie on this.

Is there any reason you aren't asking them? I mean, if they refuse to answer you they are violating the public information act and then would most likely definately be hiding something.

p.s. don't beat the bush or sneak, just ask outright

you can also go to the BRN website and they will have a list of programs in your state w/the percentages for you right there

I would say start with the dean of your program, and if you don't get any information there, then try your state's board of nursing. Before I started my program, I was told, "Well, everyone is different, so you can't really measure it." I thought this was odd, because at my last school, before I transferred to the above mentioned, that's all they talked about was the pass rate! I did go to the state board website, & saw that scores for my program were only listed for 2000 and 2001 or something like that. 11 people of 35 failed from my school on the first attempt, five failed on the second attempt. I would say be sure about your school's pass rate. Another thing, my school only did gave us a computerized diagnostic test the last semester of the program. This test identified your weaknesses, & then you were to go & study them on your own. We did not have any NCLEX preparation other than that. The class behind me actually had access to a site that is similar to kaplan, & they had 3 months access to this site. I've heard it is pretty good. I would say it is good to find out what kind of NCLEX preparation a program provides. Sorry this post is so long.

All that information is on the BRN website. It will show you the past five years and all the schools along with how many students took it that year and the % of them that passed.
