nclex material

hello all

i am new in this forum .i have passed my ielts and now am looking to write nclex rn .i am a registered nurse working in United Kingdom. could you please help me to find out the details of this exam,like how long it will take,is that computer based or written examination,how much score i need to get like that. please also could you help me to find out the websites to download the free material

The NCLEX is computer based and can take up to 6 hours to take the test. One can end up with any amount of questions from 75-265 depending on how they answer.........ex. if you get a question wrong, the next question is easier and if you get it right the next question is harder. The computer will shut off when you have either proven to be a safe nurse or proven that you got too much wrong to be a safe nurse..........I would reccommend using the forum for nurses outside the United States.........let me know if I can do anything else (aslo I would just google NCLEX so get more information)!

In a nutshell, you must first apply for Licensure by Examination to a state, and have your credentials accepted. Then you are given permission to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam, it is the final step of the licensing process.

Depending on when you graduated, and in what area that you specialize, you may need to make up a couple of courses, before you will be permitted to sit for the exam.

There is not a number given as a score, it is either pass/not pass. It is what we call a CAT exam, computer based, and each exam is different. You will be given questions based on how you answered the previous question. It wants to know what you would do in a certain situation, how you would handle things. It is not looking to test you on specifics that you were already tested on in nursing school, but it is based on common sense with the ABCs thrown in.

For the foreign grad, I only recommend Saunder's Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN, it also comes with its own included CD. You do not need anything more than that to prepare for the exam.
