Today I sat for the NCLEX, and I didn't read the rules.. Of I din't because I knew I was going to do anything like cheat. I guess one of the rules was do not write on the white board before question 1. Since I didn't read the rules, I wrote on my board before question ended. They came and told me that was not allowed and give me a new one. My bad... I thought! So after the test i just feel like I failed. So I tried the NCLEX trick and found out it's been flagged because I used my whiteboard too earlier. I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation before and still passed or can they fail you for it?? Any advice would be nice. Also would they even review my test if i failed???

They will ask you to re take it. Brain dumping is not allowed. You can write AFTER the tutorial but not before. If you will know your result, that I am not sure. How did you fare in the test?

I don't understand why you wouldn't read the rules?!?! I have taken the NCLEX 4 times and although I knew the rules the last 3 time I still read the rules just in case. I really hope that doesn't sound mean. I think I read you will have to retake the test and repay. I don't know if they made notes of what you wrote on the board and they decide if it was brain dumping or not. I wish you the best of luck! :)

If your board of nursing permits you to sit for the exam again, you will most likely have to pay the fees again to Pearson to take the test. The only test takers that I have ever heard getting a retake for free either 1. Had issues with the computers on site (once it was a problem with the calculator within the program not functioning.) or Pearson Vue had to stop or reschedule the exam (I.e. mandatory evacuation in an east coast town during Hurricane Irene last summer issued mid test and the center had to shut down those testing and scheduled to test were permitted to retake/reschedule for free). Even circumstances beyond your control, such as major car accident on your way to the center shutting down the highway prohibiting you from arriving on time you will have to pay to reschedule the test.)
Some boards of nursing investigate candidates who fail to follow the rules whether it is using a cell phone on break or "brain dumping" by writing on the white board before the first question (which is considered to be a form of cheating)h and consequences are determined on an individual basis. Breaking the rules disqualifies your results whether or not you can retest is determined by the BoN. It is impossible to predict what will happening your circumstance, however use it as a learning experience and ensure that you READ all rules presented every time, especially you sign documentation that SPECIFICALLY STATES that you have read the rules and agree to abide by them when you sign in at Pearson Vue. If I recall correctly the rules are made available when you register for the test, then again when you check in at the testing center.
Good luck.
