NCLEX help needed

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey- I have been reading tons of info in an attempt to help my daughter who has to take this horrible test- what are the best things I can do for her in the form of prep materials??? I have no clue and she is so freaked out and now I am too! Thanks and my heart goes out to all of you who are taking it.

She needs to start doing around 100 NCLEX questions a day to get used to answering the types on the test. Here are 3 books I used (I learned about from this site):

1. Saunders Review 4th edition w/cdrom (do questions)

2. Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment: Practice Exercises for Med.-Surg. nursing by Linda LaCharity (excellent - I spaced out my tests, a few a week)

3. Kaplan NCLEX 2010-2011 Strategies, Practice and Review (I borrowed this from the library and read all the strategy chapters and did all the tests)

This site has excellent information as well such as "random fact throwing", etc. There are some great links listed as well. I like this one for drugs. Each drug chapter has on the side an NCLEX mini 10 question quiz. Submit it and it gives you your score. I wished I had worked on it sooner:

I also used the review from NCSBN.com. A lot of people take the Kaplan course review which is supposed to be really good, but it is expensive. :)Hope this helps. God bless!

hi,

does she have any nclex review books? i would start with one of those and make a study schedule, like 1 day xx content and xx content and then practice questions on both topics. i would try and make a study schedule depending on when she has her test scheduled. that way you can wind down and finish prepping a few days before the exam. this website has a wealth of information and is resourceful also. the support is incredible! i hope this can help for you to start off with.

best of luck to you,

thank you both sooooo much :)

There are more than one NCLEX study guide in any major bookstore. Most people say they are successful using the Saunders Comprehensive Review. That book is a good place to start. Also have her look at the Kaplan Review book for test taking strategies and one of the books by Linda LaCharity on prioritization.

thank you all so much- I got the materials and gave all your suggestions to my daughter- hope others will read your suggestions and find them helpful, thanks again:)
