Don't give up, there are some free resources out there- not sure if they will help but I've included a couple, also there is a facebook page dedicated to those taking the nclex, look there for ideas, I did a web search for specific kinds of questions to help my daughter and got some good results. In the end I bought her the Kaplan review- do you have family, friends or a church family that will help you financially so you can pay for some help? everyone I know who has taken the test says the same things about how difficult and stressful it is and how stupid they feel- follow the advice you find here on the allnurses site- there are a ton of threads and ideas here, and keep your head held high- I will send up a prayer for you, good luck

Read as much of the advice as you can from any post that speaks to your need. I have found the advice on this site very helpful. My daughter said the same thing about not knowing things or retaining things and she did just fine. She studied for over a month before taking the exam. She did just fine. Best to you.

This is a prayer someone else posted that we used- Dear God Today I will take my examination which is so important to me Though I am nervous.Im not afraid Because I know that as I write my answers ...It is your hands that work And now,As I take this examination Please enlighten my mind to able to answer correctly and to recall everything that I have studied. I will do my best in this exam and to you God I will entrust my fate I know that whatever will be the result, it is according to your will. You have watched me As I worked hard to study for this exam Although I dont feel very confident And that I dont know if I am prepared I truly believe that you would give me what I deserve I deserve to pass this exam,God. I came to this site to get advice for my daughter. She took the NCLEX today and did the pearson vue trick, PASSED, and the advice we got from this forum was the reason. We did all that was suggested including purchase of the kaplan on-line study program. I wish you all success. I have prayed for many of you. Testing is not the end all, be all when deciding if someone should or shouldn't do something- I think testing does what it is designed to do- it limits people and their success. I tell my students (not nursing) that they are not a test score and they should never define themselves by what they get on a test. Sadly though, people lose out because of a number on a piece of paper. Fight back. Use the help that you find here, explore all options and solutions. Look into things like learning disabilities and anxiety treatment. Go at this from a new direction. Reach out for any help you can. And maybe it's time for all who have stuggled with this test to petition the powers that be, state nursing boards etc. to rethink this test. Still praying for all who have to take on this challenge.

Hey- I have been reading tons of info in an attempt to help my daughter who has to take this horrible test- what are the best things I can do for her in the form of prep materials??? I have no clue and she is so freaked out and now I am too! Thanks and my heart goes out to all of you who are taking it.
