There is a Kaplan course available on-line. You can also order any of the review guides that come along with CD-Roms from Amazon.com and they will deliver to Europe. Saunders, Mosby, Lippincott are excellent.

Have you applied to Florida Board of Nursing yet for permission to take the NCLEX exam? They are known for taking their time with domestic applicants, so I am sure that it will be much longer for foreign graduates.

If you trained in a non-Englsih speaking country, you will be responsible for completing the full set of English exams.

Florida also requires you to complete the CGFNS exam. Earliest that you will be able to take that is November, 2004. You must also complete the paperwork for the Visa Screen. This can be downloaded from CGFNS website,

http://www.CGFNS.org.

I would not hesitate on getting all of these applications sent in before even beginning to study........................

Hope that this gives you a start. Please let me know if you have any more questions......

hi jo,

there are a lot of books that are handy to use as study aids for the nclex - as siverdragon has already said about amazon website - also look up the "incredibly easy series " too - nclex review and nclex questions & answers - you get cdroms with these and with the saunders or mosby books - good for practising your questions.

iam also going to florida (& by the way i havent done my cgfns - i have been told i dont need to do it by my agency)

if you need any further help just pm me :)

Florida doesn't require the exam per se, but they do require the verfication service of CGFNS. However, you are resident of the UK so you could easily come to the US to take NCLEX. If you are a resident of any of the other countries, you need to apply to come to the US on a tourist visa, and many are being denied, especially for nurses who come from areas where the salaries are low. In order to get a green card, you must have taken either CGFNS or NCLEX. As well as the English exams, if not waived. So in this particular case, it would be easier to take CGFNS and get her green card much quicker.
