NCLEX in another state

Hello, I hope there will be some answers for me here since you probably have been through of what I'm going to through right now after graduation. Here is the issue, I'm graduated from one of the nursing schools here in FL but I'm moving to another state and currently taking my Kaplan prep. I will be in virginia in about a week after the Kaplan. In the meantime I caught in between whether or not should I take it here in FL or in VA the state that I will be residing in the near future. What really worries me is that what if the testing is different? Well, does NCLEX vary from state-to-state or they are standardized everywhere? Does it really matter which state I decide to take the NCLEX board in? Are the test the same format? I know it is a silly question but I'm trying to gather information as much as I could before making the decision. Thanks for your help

You can take the test in any state. You have to determine which state licensing agency you want the results sent to. I can take the test in Ohio and have the results sent to Indiana. It just depends on which testing center you want to pick. Good luck, I take my NCLEX on 9-10.

NCLEX (national council licensure examination)is a national test, so they are the same everywhere. You can take the test in any state, no matter which state you may be registering for.

Makes no difference where in the world you sit the exam as mentioned it is a national exam and all questions come from the same pool

Check out the NCSBN website and that will explain everything about the exam.

Not only does it not matter which state you take it in.....you can even take it in Hong Kong, if you happen to be there! Sounds crazy, but that's the truth.

Like others have said, NCLEX is a national exam. When you make your appointment to test, you choose not only where to take it, but which board of nursing the results are sent to.

I, for example, took the test in San Francisco, CA and had my results issued to the NV board of nursing.

My question is, assuming you plan on working in VA, if you have already applied for your License by Examination in VA in order to get your approval to test so you can schedule your NCLEX and registered on PearsonVue's website for the exam?
