Hey Guys!
Just thought I would create this thread for anyone applying to the Traditional BSN program at NAU! I am applying to Flagstaff as my first choice and Tucson as my second. I have a GPA of 3.8 and I got 81% overall with 70% on the science portion. The science portion was definitely tricky since it was not all Physiology.Hopefully it's good enough haha, and from what I've heard, there are definitely fewer people applying this semester due to everything going on, so hopefully that'll increase our chances!

I am applying as well! I have a 3.7 GPA and got a 78% overall with a 75% in science. Honestly I’m not expecting to get in because I did so bad in the Kaplan haha. Do you know when we find out? I know the Casper results take two weeks to send to the schools so hopefully that doesn’t delay things.

From what I know, they said they would let us know 4-6 weeks after the application deadline which was September 15th. October 13th would mark the 4 weeks after the deadline, so hopefully, we should expect our answers starting that day ? But your scores are pretty good! Which campuses did you apply to? I heard a lot of people forgot to take the Casper so hopefully that eliminates some competition haha.

Hello! I am applying to the ABSN program this November. And I was wondering if you have any study tips for the Kaplan?

That’s coming so soon! I applied to Tucson and Flagstaff and Tucson I out as my first choice just because I know it is slightly less competitive. Yikes, I can’t believe people forgot to take the Casper! I would be so stressed! I bet that does eliminate some competition.

Okay honestly this version of the Kaplan is dumb. The science isn’t just anatomy and physiology like everyone says. It is still mostly that so still study your body systems! I used a TEAS test prep for the science and also had my friend who is super good at science review with me and that helped a ton. Also study Basic BIO 181 topics like prokaryotes vs eukaryotes, the species and class system thing... I can’t remember the actual name of it, and other basic Bio 181 stuff! Honestly I didn’t study for the other parts but I’ve heard an ACT/SAT prep helps a lot. Also take some practice tests and watch Youtube videos like crash course!

Agreed, the Kaplan was very dumb haha. Only 20 science questions for a Nursing Admissions Test but around 30 for math? I just find that weird. But a user named Fallynr actually made a post and it was pretty spot on! Here is the link:
To prepare, I did the ACT/SAT reading and writing prep on Khan Academy, and honestly that helped me so much for the reading and writing portions of the exam.It has a diagnostic test and helps you work on the areas that you are lagging. I am typically not the best with reading and writing so I'd say to use Khan Academy if you need work on those subjects. Other than Bio I would say to make sure you know a good amount about blood, because I got 3 questions on that, which I was not expecting. The frustrating thing with the questions was that it would normally be "which of the statements accurately describe bla bla or which of the following is true of the bla bla system" and the choices given are kind of tricky. You also have to pick from 5 answer choices! it isn't the typical 4 choices.

Right! I also heard a lot of people failed the science portion too, but do you have any idea how housing works if we get into Tucson?? Because I feel like there should be some sort of NAU affiliated housing for us but there is literally no information about this that I have seen.

I feel like I saw somewhere that there is nau affiliated housing but now I can’t find anything on it haha. I’ll keep looking for it
I’ve been checking my email every 5 minutes since yesterday ?

Haha I've been checking my email much more often too! But I actually emailed them earlier this week and they said and I quote, "The admissions decision will be made by the first week of November" so by the latest, the first week of November. I just hope it is sooner rather than later though haha
