My School Status

Published

Hello Everyone,

Please provide advise with my situation.

I have been attending class to complete my LVN program and they are always notifying me in regards to the monthly balance i have and they even held me back from my class about it for 6 months. In the beginning when i was getting information about the school. I specifically ask them if i attend, can i put off paying to the end. They had told me that this would me be fine but i wouldn't get my diploma. I said okay because that what i did for my medical assistant diploma.

Any way I'm pretty much done trying with this school because they are wanting to hold me back again for the payments.

Do you think i can get a transcript from the school and apply to take the boards?

Thank you.

Many schools, if not all, are going to require students to be in good standing not only to graduate but to register for the next semester's classes. That is going to include full payment. They told you that it would be fine to wait, but did you get anything in writing? Because unless you did, you have the word of "they" and nothing as far as hard evidence that arrangements and agreements were made. Can you get a transcript? Probably not- the school is likely not to release it until your account is in good standing. Can you apply to take boards? Absolutely not if they have not given you a degree/diploma and will release your transcripts to the BON. You can either pay off what you owe and save up to complete the program, take out a loan, or find another way to pay. Have you exhausted financial aid already?

Literally every school requires to be paid, and eventually will prevent class registration for non-payment.

Yeah I don't think you are going to get very far without paying up to the school. They won't send your information to the state which is required to sit for NCLEX.

I didn't know you could graduate without paying! HAHA

But seriously, you should not really expect them to let you finish without having paid. My university (and I am pretty sure 99 % of all other ones) require you to pay a certain amount of time before the first day of classes start. I think one time I got away with making my payment two days late, but I had to talk to a couple different administrators to get approval.

Short answer: no.
