MUSC ABSN FALL 2020

Hey, y’all!

My name is Garrett, and I was informed this week that I was accepted into MUSCs ABSN program for Fall 2020! I found myself on this blog and saw that no one had created a thread for the incoming fall 2020 semester, so I thought I would make one lol.

I am coming from NC with a BS in Public Health from UNCW. Looking forward to getting to meet everyone!

Hey, congratulations! My husband is applying for the program, but does not have healthcare experience. Do you think that will be a big negative for him? His prerequisites GPA is high, but Bachelor's GPA is not very high. Thank you and Happy New Year.

Thank you, @Anju0504! I do not think that having healthcare experience will be a big negative for him. From what I can tell from their website and past blog threads, they consider GPA (cumulative and pre-req) to be the most significant factor. Is he applying out of state? I know that being instate helps some. Happy New year to you as well.

Thank you for your reply. He is applying as an out of state student from the West coast. He’s still getting things done for the application. How long did you wait to get your acceptance letter? Thanks

I found out about a month to the date from when the application was due! Good luck to your husband.

Hi Garrett! My name is Kala! I’ve been accepted into the ABSN Fall 2020 program as well. I’m coming from San Diego, CA. I’m originally from NJ but have been stationed here since 2016. I’m soo very excited to meet you. I have a bachelor’s in psychology and education. I’ve been a medical assistant before and always planned to go to nursing school!

Hello Kala, congrats on your acceptance!! (sorry I suck at responding on here lol) I am super excited about the program and to meet you as well! CA?? That is wild - I am sure that it is going to be a move! That is great you have the MA experience - I'm sure that will come in handy during clinicals!

Hi all,

I recently applied in January for the Fall 2020 program as well! Late applicant I know but I didn’t find out about the program until a little before the deadline. How soon did you guys find out about your acceptance? I know it might be awhile until I know but I’m anxious to find out.

Hey @hr2020,

I found out exactly a month from when the application was due - submitted November 15th (on the last day lol) and I heard back on December 15th. I actually called them the Friday before then, I believe it was Dec 13th, and they told me my status over the phone.

Hope that helps and good luck!! If you have anymore questions, please let me know.

Ok perfect! I’ll try to give them a call! I was re reading the website and I saw that there was a section talking about out of state clinicals or something and it showed something about not accepting applicants from Arizona and that’s where I’m from so I was wondering if you knew anything about that?

I believe that is just for the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The DNP program is online, so you can complete it from any state, just not certain ones. I believe that has something to do with nursing scope of practice laws and how they differ by state. You should be fine since this is a program on their campus! Plus I was also an out of state applicant (from NC, so not too far).

Hi all,

I just received my acceptance to the Fall 2020 program this morning and I am freaking out. This is my first acceptance letter as I wait to hear back from other programs I applied to. I am from Eugene, Oregon, so a bit far. Hopefully I hear back from my other programs soon, so I can make a decision!

Hey @maya_jk congrats on your acceptance!! I know what you're going through - I hate the waiting.... I applied to MUSC, Duke, and Emory. I already paid my deposit to MUSC... so, I'm struggling with deciding if I want to forfeit that money for another program (if I get in). I hear back from them March 1 and March 13.

Congrats again on your acceptance!! Good luck on your other schools, and I hope your decision will come easy ? .
