  1. Hi @alexann ! I did end up attending MUSC and am currently in my second semester of the program! I applied with a previous Bachelor's degree in Human Physiology and a GPA of 3.89. I had volunteer experience as a TA in undergrad. I also had previous healthcare experience in immunization compliance, as a CNA, and as a medical scribe. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to chat privately.
  2. Hey all! I have a question regarding parking/driving to campus. As I try to figure out housing, I was hoping to find a place downtown so I could walk to campus, but that is showing to be a little bit challenging. I am now more open to finding a place in West Ashley, Mt Pleasant, James Island, etc., however I am worried about driving/parking to campus. I was wondering if there are parking passes to purchase, how competitive parking is, and how expensive parking is? Would it be more worthwhile to simply find a place downtown and pay more rent to not have to deal with parking? Thank you!
  3. If it makes anyone feel any better, I was accepted into another out of state ABSN program and will be attending that one instead. So that gives better odds in the highly likely list. Good luck everyone!
  4. I was also placed on the “highly likely” alternates list
  5. Anyone else see the email about switching the Ashland ABSN interview to online form due to COVID-19? I wonder how that's going to work and when we'll get more updates on that...
  6. Hey all! I was just admitted to the traditional BSN for Fall 2020 and I couldn't find a thread for that specific cohort. I was wondering if anyone knows where clinicals take place? Do we have to travel to Durham for them or do they all take place in Chapel Hill? I was also wondering if anyone knew if UNC is good about rewarding financial aid. Thank you!
  7. I still have not received an email or letter. I tried to check SPIRE this morning and the page is not loading today.
  8. I’m still waiting too.. I keep double checking all of my junk folders like every hour
  9. Hey all! I got an email yesterday (Feb 20) for an invitation to interview for the ABSN program in Ashland on Friday, March 13! I was wondering if anyone knew who soon we hear back from the school about decisions after interviews? I thought it was about a week, but now I cannot find confirmation for this. Best, Maya
  10. I just logged into my account and I am confused because it says that my application is still under review, but then when I go to Student center it says I was admitted... I don't want to get my hopes up, but can anyone clarify?
  11. @Kala D. Steward Unfortunately I do not think I will have time to visit Charleston before I have to make a final decision, but I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the city. I would be coming from Eugene, Oregon, which has a population of about 150,000, but sometimes feels smaller. I haven't spent any time on the East Coast or in the South, so it would definitely be a big move for me.
  12. @LAktl Besides length and cost, an important factor for me is location and quality of clinicals. For example, one program I applied to is in a relatively small town in southern Oregon, so the clinicals would be in small community hospitals and would require some commuting as well. MUSC is a large teaching hospital, so to me you’re getting the best opportunity for your clinical experience in a setting like this. Also an important factor for me is that I am very interested in pediatrics and MUSC has a very reputable children’s hospital, whereas other programs I applied to do not. To me, the cost of the program is comparable to others. Even as an out of state student, the cost is about the same if not left than the programs I applied to in Oregon. Hope this helps!
  13. Hey @garssta The waiting is by far the hardest part! I waiting to hear from OHSU, UNC, and UMASS. My cousin suggested I ask for an extension to make my decision. Do you know if this is possible or how strict the school is about this?
  14. Hi all, I just received my acceptance to the Fall 2020 program this morning and I am freaking out. This is my first acceptance letter as I wait to hear back from other programs I applied to. I am from Eugene, Oregon, so a bit far. Hopefully I hear back from my other programs soon, so I can make a decision!
