multiquoting in a reply, it wont work

How do you "multiquote" in a reply? I click on the icons and try it, but it just places my cursor in the reply box without the quotes. Why wont it work for me?

I chose the multiquote button on one message then on the next, the button gets a "-" on it. When I selected reply to post both original messages were quoted. Let's see if it worked...

It worked, but I have not figured out how to only quote parts of a message.

Once you quote a message and you wish only a part of the quote showing, erase the parts you do not wish to quote.
