I'd like to ask what is the role of a nurse as part of a multidisciplinary team? I know what a multidisciplinary team is, found a good explanation in Fundamentals of Nursing and Contexts of Nursing, but not the role of a nurse in a multidisciplinary team.

Each person has a job to do towards getting the patient better. The team will meet, usually once per week, and discuss treatment plans for the patient, and get input from everyone involved in the care of the patient.
Physical therapist, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, dietician, social worker, case manager, nurse, phycisian, clinical pharmacist. This is dependent upon the needs of the patient.
The nurse is essentially the gate-keeper for this patient. Everyone will make suggestions as to what they think will benefit this patient, changes in drugs, therapy treatments, etc. The nurse gives valuable input since she/he is the one who is usually caring for that patient on a 8 hour or 12 hour basis.
