Mar 29, 20197 yr Hello all! I’m applying for MTSA’s DNP program for 2020 and I was just wondering who else out there is applying?!
Jul 7, 20196 yr I believe we should only have to know about the drugs we listed in our application. At least those are the ones I’ve been focusing on personally. Anything on the application is fair game.
Jul 7, 20196 yr Okay perfect. That's fair. I'm trying not to psych myself out too much about the interview, but I'm so nervous! Good luck to all of you!
Jul 8, 20196 yr Author I have an interview this week too! Yeah I know about the meds on my app. Also, depending on your unit, just know the ones you use frequently. I’m studying pressors mainly

But, if you put in the work you get the results. It’s a slow race guys. I know that everyone wants to get As in everything but just remember Bs get degrees. I have to constantly study and I get the grades I want but it takes sacrifice. I do get to go out and actually have a life...much like many of the students in the program. It’s just a different pace. I’m hoping to be at your intensive week to talk to you guys once you all get in!!! ?

Jul 12, 20196 yr I interviewed yesterday. It wasn’t bad at all. I felt very comfortable. I’m from a small town and work at a “smaller “ hospital. That’s what scares me about getting in. Anyway, good luck to you all!

Interview was much more laid back than previous years. Know your unit specialty like the back of your hand and you will do fine. If you list medications in your app, then know those meds down to the molecular pathways. They interview you based on what you say so be mindful of that. And just be yourself. They’re super nice and know you’re nervous. Practice out loud, prepare and prepare some more. Because the interview is your ticket in. My stats weren’t great at all but I had strengths in other areas and studied my butt off For the interview.

I am currently in my first year of working in a medical ICU. I graduated from a 12 month ABSN in August with a 3.3. My previous degree at my 4 year university was in Biopsychology and my overall GPA when graduating was a 3.45. I believe my science GPA was around a 3.2. I am waiting until February to get my ACLS and PALS done because my hospital pays for it then. Would you consider my statistics to have a fair chance on an application? If not, what would you recommend in order to grab their attention and score an interview?
