Moving to UK

I just want to get my facts straight. First of all I am a L&D RN with 24 years experience. I do have an Associates Degree. My husband is considering an assignment in England that would be for 1-3 years. Do I understand correctly that I would not be able to work in the UK???? I need information!

Thanks

If you get a work permit and complete NMC requirements then you can look for work. NMC will make their own decision on your training as it is all to do with hours. This link gives hours that is required although not individually broken down page 11 is the main to look at http://www.nmc-uk.org/aFrameDisplay.aspx?DocumentID=2448

Just to add midwifery is totally different in the UK and you probably will not meet requirements to work in that role

Another thing to consider is if you will have a permit to work under your husbands assignment, if not the no you will not be allowed to work. Employers in the UK have to give priority to UK nurses then European before international applicants. So the chances of you finding work even if you are able to register is not good. There are not many jobs and lots of nurses looking for work here.

Also I noticed that you said yours is an Associate degree, The NMC requires at least 3 years in nursing school so you may have an issue there too. Suggest you check with the NMC as SD posted.
