Moving to Syracuse - Crouse

U.S.A. New York

Published

I'm a new grad moving back to Central New York from NE Ohio. Both my wife's and my families are still here and the hospitals are all hiring. anyone have suggestions on places to live, apartments, houses for rent, good neighborhoods, good area churches.

I accepted a position in the Cardiac Unit(4) at Crouse. It seemed to have the best atmosphere of all the hospitals I interviewed at, although St. Joseph's and Community General seemed good. Upstate did not seem to want to deal with me since I am coming from out-of-state and need a limited permit until I take the NCLEX. Crouse had the best new grad and relocation packages. I hope I made the right decision because I heard both positive and negative comments about the place since I got the job. Is there anyone on this site that works there that can let me know the ins and outs of working at Crouse?

congrats on the move. I do not work there, I work at a LTF (Loretto) I was looking into going to the RN program though.

My husband is the IT Project Manager at Crouse and LOVES the company he works for. They are really good to thier employees.

Good Luck

I am a second semester student at Crouse school of nursing and have done clinical rotation on the Orthopedic/Neuro floor. I enjoyed my rotation and thought the work atmosphere was generally pretty good, however I don't have anything to compare it to.

I live in Baldwinsville, a small village NW of Syracuse. We really love it here and the community is safe with the best schools in the area.

Good Luck and let me know if I can help with anymore questions. :)

Oh..and as far as good churches go, we just started attending the most incredible church I have ever been to! It's Northside Baptist in Liverpool, which is about a 15 minute drive from where I live. I have been so so many different church denominations over the last 10 or so years, and nothing compares to this church. They have a terrific youth program also. You should definitely check it out. :)

thanks so much for your replies DionaLPN & mixy. its good to hear some confirmation of the decision I made to go to Crouse. I can't wait to start.

mixy, northside baptist just happens to be one of the churches my wife and I were planning on checking out. It looks somewhat similar to the church we're with now, although ours is not Southern Baptist.

We're moving in a couple of weeks and putting our stuff in storage, staying with friends while we look for a place to live. It'll be good to come back to Central NY.

now, back to studying for the NCLEX.

Could you please help me to get informations about Crouse Hospital school of nursing. I am planning to apply in Crouse school for Spring semester ( I believe it starts in Jan.) I am done with almost all the preclinical classes, but I got c- in my chemistry. M i allowe to retake that class?

And How do you like the school and professors so far? Is it very intense and hard?

Thanks you so much!
