moving to sydney

Published

 Hi

I`m due to go out to sydney saint vincents hospital around Jan time, the thing is i`m getting a little anxious about finding accommodation out there. I have a family relative to stay with for the first couple of months but need my own space.

Has anyone ever gone over to sydney nursing before and found accommodation when out there, if so how easy was it, are there plenty of chances to house/flat share etc.

Any help would be great.

This is a good site for finding a flat to rent...http://www.realestate.com.au

I'm sorry to say but accomodation in Sydney in incredibly tough to find. We're talking about hundreds of people showing up to a 1/2 hour inspection at a dinky little flat... There are even tv features about the shortage. I'm not saying that you can't do it, but it won't be easy and apparently you typically need to be as fast and aggressive as a snake ;) You could try putting signs up once you're in Syd, getting in contact with real estate agents, etc.

I rather like domain.com.au

Very easy to get a share place, though. Also, people tend to like renting to nurses, so I never had trouble getting rental in the past year.

Getting a room for rent in sydney specially for nurses is not that hard. But if you dont have a car then finding a room near to the train station is a bit difficult.I personally used domain.com.au, gumtree.com.au and resellgalore.com.au.

Go with gumtree.com.au. You can put your own ad on there for FREE and respond to posters for free. It's helped me find accommodation in the past, though I haven't lived/worked in Sydney. You can also stipulate in your ad exactly what you want, change it as appropriate and best thing - you don't have to put down your phone number. You can use a temp email address that no-one can find you at again.

Also try homehound.com.au and furnishedproperty.com.au, which is a Sydney & suburbs exclusive website.
