Yes, and it takes a while to get one.

(unless you are from a compact state and going to a compact state, you need a license for every state in which you work - Florida is not a compact state, and has so far declined to become one)

I am in the same situation. I just passed the NCLEX for NY and am investigating the process of applying for a license in Florida. From what I have researched, Florida does not have reciprocity, however, they will allow you to work if you go through the process of license endorsement. You will be able to keep the license you already have, but will have to apply for a seperate one for Florida. You should begin the process now because it atkes approximately 90 days. You may go here to get further information and download the application for endorsement in Florida http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur%5Flic%5Freqend.html

I am currently re-locating to Tampa and have been really looking into this. i hope this helps you.
