Moving to Dallas.

U.S.A. Texas

Hi:

I am relocating to Dallas area now, is that possible to land a job in Dallas before I move there? I am trying to get a job through phone interview. I got my current RN job through phone in Arizona. Maybe RN jobs in Dallas aren't that hot so I have to move there first to get a job? Thank you for your advice.

Check the websites of the local hospitals, don't bother with the newspapers. Career builder and Monster have some listings too.

There are planty of jobs, but I can almost promise you wouldn't get a final commitment without coming for at least one personal interview.

There are more than plenty RN jobs in the Metroplex; add no state tax and reasonable housing costs, and it is a great place to be. C'mon over!

In addition to the web searches to get familiar with the many healthcare employers and choices, I'd encourage you to invest a few days for a visit to the area. Despite having plenty of openings, a good employer will want to see the whites of your eyes before they make a job offer and will want you to visit with HR, the hiring manger, and maybe even others in the dept in order to make sure you are a good fit for the environment....and you, too, can make a better informed decision based on what you see and observe for yourself. Sight unseen doesn't strike me as the best way to start an employment relationship for either party.

Thank you all for your reply. I did a lot of search, I believe Texas is my best choice to move into when I consider pay, housing and opportunities. Hopefully, some hospitals are willings to pay for airline tickets for me to go there for interview. Is that possible? Normally, how many patient you have on med/surg or tele floor in Dallas area? Thank you.

I would try local agency first to see the REAL staffing not from a HR view. Try MSN,CareStaff or EPIC. You will get the unoffical view of staffing and wages. I don't recommend HCA or Tenet hospital for pay or benefits. Parkland is good for experience, benefits and getting better pay and safer working conditions. Not a Baylor fan at all. Surburan branches of major hospitals are a mixed bag. I would AVOID ANYTHING in Mesquite. Really look first because Dallas is good old boys place and any mistakes haunt you there. Look at all the Dallas posts.
