Hi Everyone!
I am really thinking about moving out to AK in a few years, I was wondering what it's like nursing/living out there? I would also like to know, from an opinion point of view, how does the cost of living compare to other parts of the US. I am very excited in my new plans for ALASKA!

*** While I have visited Alaska I have never lived there. I have looked into moving there and this is what I found. The cost of living is significatly higher. Anchorage for example is 47% higher cost of living than where I live in the upper midwest. However nursing wages in Alaska are not nearly high enough for me to maintain my current standard of living. I have interviewed and been offered jobs in Alaska and found that my pay would be roughly the same or at most 10% higher but with drasticaly higher cost of living.
There are however many wonderful things about living in Alaska that might make the drop in living standard worth it for many people.
