Mount Rainier nursing

Published

Helo~ Im from overseas, from Singapore to be exact. I have a dream to incorporate nursing into my personal adventures. So recently i fantasized about the idea of moving to seattle washington to work, so that i can get close to Mt Rainier. Then perhaps i can pick up serious mountaineering from Rainier mountaineering inc. and be trained in guiding, wilderness first aid etc..pick up white water kayaking with the local kayak community.. all because there is lack of opportunity here...our landscape is pretty flat, and waterways is too boring with lots of restrictions on where we can paddle....but after reading a few posts here, it seems like even fresh grads have a tough time to get a job... is the nursing job market there really saturated? application to work in US seems to be super tedious too..

would love to apply to be a registered nurse. 3 years of exp, moving around in medical and surgical intensive care... though have yet to familiarize with crrts to be considered to have the whole package of a critical care nurse...

btw i dream to climb a 8000m peak and experience what it feels like to be in the "death zone" someday...

sorry about the rant...the thought of it is making me hypoxic..

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Suggest reading upon retrogression and the years waiting once lucky to find employer willing to go the immigration route and file application. Same goes for H1b route, unless not affected by the cap you need minimum of BSN or over 12 years experience and employer files in April with Oct start. Also need registration and license sorted before employers will look at you

Have you visited Seattle? While climbing Mt Rainer sounds exciting, it may not as grand as you dream. The area only has 58 sunny days a year. Go on vacation and check it out.
