Hello everybody.
My nclex date is scheduled to be on September 27th. I was wondering what you guys thought about the Mosby's CAT online? I see that they offer a box version as well. which one would you think would benefit the most? I know the online one lets you log on for a month.
Do you suggest I use Mosby's to get some questions done? I have been using http://www.learningext.com and will be ending soon.
I also have the Kaplan cd and the NCLEX 3000 cd.
any suggestions in how I can get some more questions done.

Yes, I found the Mosby CAT extremely helpful to me! That was just about all I did the last week prior to taking the NCLEX, I just did test after test.
I know a lot of people said that it didn't help because they would get some of the same questions. But what I did was I didn't go review the answers right away, I waited until I took quite a few tests and then I reviewed all the questions/answsers. That way, if I got the same questions during subsequent tests, then it didn't matter or have an effect on my score because I still wasn't for sure of the correct answer.
The box version and the online version are exactly the same thing. In the online version you get your user ID and password right away, in the box version they will send you the user ID and password in the mail. Same exact thing though.
Personally I found it really helpful .... it helped tie everything together.
Good luck to you!

I took my NCLEX just about a month ago now, and I used the CAT with my last month of studying for the test. I must say I was glad I took it, the questions there seemed to much more closely resemble those of which I had on the actual NCLEX, I would say buy it online if you can, that's how I did it.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I bought the Mosby's CAT earlier tonight. I just finished 150 questions. When I finished 75 questions it gave me the probability score of 82% and it gave me the option to go onto 150 questions. When I finished the 150 questions my probablity score was still the same -- 82%!!
Of course this freaked me out because my NCLEX is in about 2 weeks!!! actually two weeks from today.
I am freaked out! anybody who has taken the Mosby's CAT .. can you tell me what your probability score was?
I plan to do another set of 150 tomorrow. Hopefully my score will change.
NCLEX #2 9/27 -- Am I Ready?
Ken,
The first time I took the Mosby CAT I got an 82% probability too. I cried and freaked out. I was so sure I would have done better than that. But then I kept taking them ..... got better each time. Just keep on with it. I took that first Mosby CAT about 1 week before taking the NCLEX, and like I said I got an 82% first time, then got better each time. I went on to pass the NCLEX. So will you!!
My scores ranged from 82 up to 96 and I passed my boards, so just keep studying.
For all of you who have taken the Mosby's CAT. the 2nd and 3rd time doing the questions -- I find that some questions come up again.
It was suggested to me that to not go over the answers because that will alter the percentage rate.
I just wanted you guys opinions on what I should do. So far I have taken a set of 150 and a set of 75. the last set I had a 50% of passing. how horrible and discouraging. Since answers came up in a PDF format - I was able to download it .. and will review later on.
When did you guys choose to review the rationales? or did you review it right after each set.
Like I said, I waited until I took quite a few tests and then I reviewed all the questions/answsers. I took 8 or 9 tests I think, and I never went back and looked at the answers until a couple days before I took the NCLEX. Even then I just looked at the questions/answers that I got wrong and ones that stuck out in my mind.
Since you still have a couple weeks before taking the NCLEX, I would just focus on taking the CATs and not even focus on the answers. Each time you take the CAT, just take your time, really focus on what the question is asking and look at the choices and try to narrow it down. I noticed that I got better and better about throwing out the wrong answers and really knowing what the question was trying to ask. If I were you I would just download the answers, save them, and go back to them when you get closer to taking the NCLEX - that's what worked for me.
Thank you for the advice. So far I have taken 3 exams. And I have downloaded the question/answers for each exam. I will continue to do questions .... and will probably start reviewing next week. I am doing sets of 75 .. and sometimes 150 . hopefully the probability scores are somewhat accurate in passing this NCLEX.
Anybody with more advice about the MOSBY's CAT? I just realized it is in 2 weeks! and the stress level has kicked in because this will be my 2nd time around.
