More and more layers

I just applied recently for a promotion. I have applied for other positions at the organization, but it seems there is a new layer. I had to clear a phone screen before my resume would be forwarded to the manager.

The job is on the unit I have been working on for 7 years. It kind of cracked me up that I had to go through a third party to get a resume to my current boss.

New grads don't go through this, but I guess as you go up closer to management, it adds more layers. I am perfectly qualified so I think it was just a formality.

I thought it was funny. We'll see who gets an interview (one other internal from my unit and one internal as far as the organization goes-just a different hosp)
