Hi all. Have any of you been placed in monitoring after the BON contacted you even 3-4 years later? I think this is so strange. I have been practicing as a RN without problems the last 3 years. So far the BON hasn't contacted me but I am sure they will. I have never heard of them just dropping a case without even monitoring. I self reported back in Feb 2016.
Do you know if they would make me completed an inpatient rehab if I didn't finish one? I stayed 60 days of a 90 day inpatient treatment, left treatment due to issues at home with my husband. It did give me time to sober up and work on myself though.
Then I completed an outpatient program. I am sure they will require me to have an evaluation done which surely won't recommend inpatient since I have been sober so long- I hope!
Any info would be appreciated! Good luck and prayers to everyone!

Congrats on your recovery! What did you self-report for? Where you employed at the time? I have no personal experience with the BON but from what I've read on here it sounds like they will always catch up with you, but logically if you can prove you don't have an ongoing issue it shouldn't be a problem.
Thank you! I self reported for alchohol and opoid addiction. I did admit to diverting wasted meds from home health patients. However I didn't get fired from home health, I just went on FMLA and was removed from their payroll when my FMLA ran out. I don't have any patient complaints. Surely they won't do much since I sought treatment and all. Who knows with the board thought- its strange sometimes how they think the public is at risk yet waits 3-4 years before they do anything. I will most likely get a lawyer- he can pull for me on the fact that I have been practicing 3 years without a drug or alcohol problem- or at least I pray so anyway!
Did you every hear from the BON after your self-report?
Yes, I did- once. An investigator came to my house and had me write a report on what happened. I really should have had a lawyer then but I didn't.
This is not any advice - but I would not worry about it at this point, if you literally met with someone and have not heard anything since. I would be more worried if you had reported and not heard anything.

I was fired and put my license on inactive status per lawyer recommendation. I was able to find work using my degree not my license while the board took THREE years to get to me.
I got a two year sentence. Took a year to find work. So this whole ordeal will be for six years..
They are so backlogged.
Berd - did you/your employer report you to the BON? You didn't hear a single thing from an investigator or anything for 3 years? They just appeared?
Usually (from what I hear) once you report or someone reports you, they send an investigator pretty quick- like the first few months or so. An investigator called and came to my house within a month after I self reported.

They did not report me. I lawyered up immediately after getting fired, the lawyer dealt w the investigator when they came around shortly after. I did not make a statement. I truly believe that helped me. Falling on your sword helps no one...

I would just keep rolling on unless you hear from them further. In my situation, it was 6 months after initial contact that they sent me for an evaluation...they couldn’t “find” me (whatever). Then after I signed up for monitoring it was almost another 2 yrs before I heard from the BON and received a consent agreement. So much for “protecting the public”, right??
