Monitoring Program

I have been reading these post for a while now. I am approaching my last 5 months and 28 days.  I was given a 2 year sentence to check to check in with affinity. I did have to get an 6500 dollar evaluation and attend IOP for 6 weeks.  I had no medication restrictions. So as of now I only have to get quarterly performance evals done by my employer and check in.  I do not have an addiction I was charged with DUI years ago then I had dismissed with pre-trial diversion.  Giving up alcohol was not really hard as I did not have a dependence on it. The hardest part was being treated like a criminal and jumping through hoops to obtain my license. It was either take the monitoring contract or not obtain my OK to sit for NCLEX. I have not had issues with testing or remembering to check in. I thank god that my job is so understanding with this matter as well.  In my case the program was very aggravating, and it took me and long time to get over it.  When I went to get evaluated I was told by the doctors no matter if I don't have a substance issue it will be two years to be monitored which shows how rigged this system is.

It's ridiculous,  I couldn't agree more. I don't have a SUD either.  At least you only got 2 years if it's any consolation.

@Healer555 Now that I have gotten over it.. I do feel a little better that it was 2 years rather than 5 I don't know if I would have been able to get through. How long did they give you.

3. Better than 5 but not as good as 2. I wouldn't have done 5 years. I almost said no to 3 years

@Healer555 I seriously probably would of said no to 5 as well. See I was a LPN before RN. LPN board did not make me do any monitoring when reporting to them about the DUI charge. I did pre trial diversion so they was OK with that and gave a warning. When I applied to sit for NCLEX  for RN years later they made me do an evaluation and then recommended monitoring. I would of probably remained a LPN if I had to do 5 years.

A diversion is case dismissed?

@Healer555 Yes. This is with the court system thoe this takes place before the board was involved. So I have nothing on my background . But of course I had to report this to the board. Boards still discipline even if a case was dismissed thought with pre-trial diversion.

It was never filed I never had to attend court once u complete the program it's dismissed I did not plea anything. So if my back ground is check right now it's clear.. it didn't even show up for the board.

In our program, the case managers and evaluators can decide that you don't need to be monitored. Yet, the board decides all the evidence doesn't matter. I completely understand the frustration considering you have to pay all this money for evaluation, and it doesn't even matter. At that rate, I'd rather just do the monitoring and save my money.

Also, 6500? Was it just evaluation or does that include treatment? Our evaluation consists of a 2 hour appt with an NP or LCSW which runs 800-1000. They allow you to go to whatever treatment is covered by your insurance.

It was just the evaluation as I was not recommended for inpatient treatment.  The board makes you do at least 2 years no matter what the doctor recommends. So I had to do outpatient and monitoring which only consist of random drug testing.

What state is this?
